Electrician Brad Sudol Wants to End Alzheimer’s

To look at his career and profession, Bradley Sudol is a very successful professional electrician based in Philadelphia. He’s not run-of-the-mill in that position, that’s for sure. Brad Sudol is actually a certified master electrician with a specialty in low-voltage wiring. If you need more, Brad obviously takes safety seriously, since he has been certified by OSHA, a federal agency that specializes in workplace safety. Brad Sudol is also certified to work on fire alarms and NCCER has certified his skills with both electrical and carpentry for nearly a decade. However, that is only part of his life.

When he is not building things and putting in electrical wiring, Bradley Sudol is a very passionate advocate for a cure for Alzheimer’s. As of now, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, but medical science has been working on it for a while and Brad would like to see a cure sooner rather than later. The progress on Alzheimer’s has actually been impressive so far, as there are now treatments available that can help with many of the cognitive and behavioral symptoms. These treatments can often prolong a person’s quality of life.

Brad Sudol wants to make sure everyone knows the progress that has been made and how much needs to be done. For example, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already approved some drugs that seem to have limited effectiveness, cholinesterase inhibitors and memantine. These medications treat the cognitive symptoms, like memory loss and confusion. This is important because, as Alzheimer’s progresses, it kills brain cells and cell connections are lost, which is why cognitive symptoms progress and memory problems worsen. While these medications can’t stop the damage to brain cells, they do seem to be able to mitigate the symptoms for a time by assisting the brain in carrying messages between cells. Brad Sudol seems hopeful that a cure for the disease isn’t far off.
